You’ve decided to elope, woohoo! But now you need to decide where. The benefit of eloping is that more locations become available to you, which wouldn’t ordinarily be able to service a larger wedding. This extra choice is both freeing and potentially overwhelming.
You now have the opportunity to think outside the box. You can still look at wineries, breweries, beaches and parklands. But you can also consider hiking to a magical location in the scrub, booking a B&B (with the hosts permission), marrying in your backyard, or finding a secluded little cove nestled in sandy cliffs.
Even wild forests have rules now. Forrestry SA, Botanic Gardens and many reserves require you to apply for a permit to marry at their location (even if it is just the 2 of you). B&B’s should also be contacted in advance to ensure that they are happy with you eloping on their property. It’s best to get onto this as soon as you decidee to elope, many locations require a month notice (or more) minimum.
Below you’ll find some of our favourite locations for elopements. Venues are always changing, so please be sure to check what permissions are required for any that interest you.
